Cibria cucumber has recently become a favorite in the beds of many experienced gardeners, because thanks to the efforts of Dutch breeders, it was possible to develop a variety of cucumbers with high productivity. The percentage of fruiting in Kibrii is many times higher than in the most famous varieties. This is also confirmed by numerous reviews from gardeners praising these cucumbers.

Kibriya is a liana-like plant, and on the main stem I grow fruits.
Description of the variety of cucumbers Kibria
Kibria is originally from Holland, where it was obtained by crossbreeding in 2009. This variety was bred for year-round fruiting in greenhouse conditions.
Due to the high yield and absolute safety of the product, it was allowed for planting in Russia. In 2011, the hybrid was introduced to the State Register of the Russian Federation. It is recommended for cultivation in the Central and North-Western regions of the country.
High rates of fruiting of cucumbers Kibriya are possible on soils rich in nutrients. Since the plant is self-pollinating (parthenocarpic), it is more advisable to grow it in greenhouse beds. But, as practice shows, cucumbers grow well in open areas, without a greenhouse cover.
Kibria cucumbers are a liana-like plant, where the main stem is fruiting. Lateral shoots do not grow. The bush itself is large, but compact. Rapidly growing, the main stem is not limited to a flower brush. Because of this, the plant must be tied to a support. The bush of cucumbers of the Kibria variety is highly resistant to various diseases of vegetables, quickly recovers from stressful conditions, and is unpretentious to care.
The cucumbers themselves are short, medium-tuberous, of an even oval shape. The color is dark green with barely noticeable light stripes. Crispy fruits without voids, dense, and the taste is sweetish. The length of one cucumber does not exceed 10-11 cm, and the thickness is 4-5 cm. The fruits are suitable for fresh consumption and for pickling.
Advantages and disadvantages
The Dutch cucumber variety Kibria has several advantages and disadvantages.
The positive characteristics include:
- Enviable yield indicator: from 1 sq. km. m usually collect up to 2 kg of vegetables;
- rapid ripening: after 40-50 days you can already take the first fruits;
- sweet pleasant taste without any bitterness;
- lack of voids inside the cucumbers;
- the vegetable is universal in gastronomy: it is salted, pickled or eaten fresh;
- the plant withstands many diseases;
- the harvested crop perfectly tolerates long transport without loss of taste.
During the cultivation of Kibria, no serious flaws were identified. A large number of reviews by gardeners indicates that the variety is perfect. However, there are several disadvantages:
- The high cost of seeds. If we compare the cost of the Dutch hybrid and domestic breeding products, the first is significantly more expensive.
- A vegetable bush can grow only on soil rich in nutrients.
These shortcomings are insignificant against the background of a mass of advantages.
Soil requirements
To plant this variety of cucumber, they take purchased soil or prepare it on their own: in equal parts they take soil from the garden and last year's humus. If the soil is too dense and heavy, then peat is added to it.
The main condition is that the soil must be loose and breathable. Peat can be replaced with perlite or vermiculite.
If necessary, the soil must necessarily be fed with nutrients. Prepared soil (especially that taken from the humus garden) must be disinfected. There are 3 ways to do this:
- watering with a solution of potassium permanganate;
- calcination in the oven;
- watering with boiling water.
Attention must be paid to the acidity of the soil. A slightly acidic environment is suitable for the Kibria cucumber variety. If the soil is of strong acidity, then it must be extinguished with lime.
For the entire time of growing seedlings, the soil will require several fertilizing with mineral substances.
Rules for sowing seeds, planting seedlings
Having prepared the soil in accordance with all the rules, you can proceed to sowing seeds and growing seedlings.
Both specialists and gardeners with many years of experience recommend seedlings, since the seed will not give the desired amount of yield.
Seeds are laid out in small peat pots with soil or in special cassettes. Recommended quantity - no more than 2 seeds per 1 container. Submerge them in the soil to a depth of not more than 1 cm. The optimal temperature condition before the appearance of sprouts is 30 degrees. As soon as the first shoots appear, the pots are transferred to a room with a temperature of 22 degrees.
Growing seedlings on average lasts 2-3 weeks, until 3-4 leaflets appear on the shoots. After this, seedlings can be safely planted in greenhouse soil: per 1 square. m put 2-3 plants. Dig holes in the size of peat pots in which sprouts grow, since it is with them that you need to plant. After a while, the peat pots will dissolve and through them the roots will penetrate the greenhouse soil.
Next, you will need to regularly carry out simple, but necessary cucumber care.
Caring for the bush after planting
General conditions: temperature, humidity, watering
Once the seedlings of cucumbers of the Kibria variety are in the soil, it will be necessary to establish temperature standards suitable for plants in the greenhouse - 22-26 degrees.
Humidity is another regulated condition. At first, it should be in the range of 90-95%, after the appearance of the first adult leaves, the humidity should be reduced to 80%.
Watering plants is carried out when the topsoil is dry. Water for the procedure should be settled with a temperature of 20-21 degrees. It is better to choose a drip technique - it is less traumatic for plants, but manual irrigation is also not forbidden. After watering, the topsoil is loosened.
Bush formation
2-3 days after transplanting the seedlings into the greenhouse soil, a support is installed near each plant, usually a trellis 2.5 meters high. The main stem of the bush is braided on the trellis, while the top of the stem should be directed downward.
4-5 leaves are counted from the top and pinch the shoot, the process is repeated every 4-5 leaves. This will allow the main stem to grow rapidly, braiding the base, and be saturated with sunlight. The result will be a plentiful harvest.
Gently remove the lateral processes and extra ovaries from the main stem. In one node there should be no more than 2-3 pieces.
Top dressing
Feeding with minerals should be carried out with a certain frequency: once every 2 weeks. The composition of fertilizers must contain potassium, phosphorus, calcium, nitrogen, magnesium.
Instead of purchased fertilizer, you can use a substance of organic origin: cow or horse manure.
Diseases and their prevention
One of the advantages of the Kibriya variety is its high immunity to many plant diseases. But here root rot bushes can be affected. This happens if the watering is too regular and water accumulates in the zone of the root system. In order to avoid this trouble, water the bush as necessary.
Pests such as aphids, whiteflies, spider mites and thrips can attack the plant. They struggle with them in different ways:
- Contact insecticides are effective against aphid invasions.
- Systemic insecticides are used against thrips.
- Acaricides are administered when a spider mite appears.
- It is very difficult to deal with whiteflies, it is better not to allow the appearance of this pest. To do this, you must observe the temperature and humidity indicators, not allowing them to increase.
Harvesting and storage rules
As soon as the bushes of the cucumber Kibria begin to actively bear fruit, the crop is removed daily. You need to pick only those cucumbers whose length has reached 10-11 cm. You can leave 2 vegetables on a branch for seed collection.
If you pick pickles at least every other day, the fruits will lose their presentation and attractiveness. Vegetables harvested on time are capable of long-term storage if all conditions are met: a cool and well-ventilated room.
The young hybrid variety of cucumbers Kibriya has already gained recognition among many gardeners. It is recommended for planting to beginners, since it is unpretentious, does not require complicated care, and the crop is enviable. If the variety is used for the first time, it is better to choose its seedlings for planting, so as not to be disappointed with the result.
